Banknote issued by the Spanish Republic (Ministry of Finance) during the Spanish Civil War.
The smallest banknote issued in Spain. It was printed in the so-called Factory C (Aspe and Castellón), since the Mint had moved from Madrid to Levante in 1937 due to the rapid advance of the National Troops, and the fear that the Republicans would lose Madrid. Three series were issued (A, B and C) and began to circulate on January 18, 1938. On April 1, 1939, with the victory of Franco's troops, it ceased to have liberating value, like all coins and banknotes issued before the end of the war (with the exception of those put into circulation by the Government of Burgos, which continued to circulate years later).
