NOT: "Hwan" terimi Hanja (圜) dilinde, "Won" ise Hangul (원) ve İngilizce dillerinde yazılmıştır. Bu sorunlar, yeni banknotlara duyulan acil ihtiyaç ve para birimi adındaki değişikliğin yanı sıra yeni banknotların Amerika Birleşik Devletleri'nde üretilmesine karar verilmesine bağlanmıştır.[1] Farkında olmayan banknot kataloğu editörleri, Albert Pick tarafından hazırlanan Standard Catalog of World Paper Money'de olduğu gibi, bu banknotları yanlışlıkla eski won sisteminin bir parçası olarak sınıflandırabilir.
