Comments

(en) Jametz was part of the principality of Sedan. It underwent a long siege in 1588-1589 following the devastations perpetrated in Lorraine and on the lands of Guise in 1587 by an army of German Protestant soldiers.
In reprisal, Charles III of Lorraine decided to attack the principality of Sedan in December 1587. The city capitulated on December 29, 1588 but the garrison entrenched in the citadel surrendered only July 24, 1589, after a siege of 18 months.
Charlotte married Henry of La Tour d'Auvergne in 1591 and died in childbirth in 1594.
