Security thread:
There are two security threads present on the banknote; the thinner one is closer to the centre of the note with the inscription of “50” and is only visible under a backlight. The thicker one is to the right of Mao Zedong and is interwoven through the note with the inscription of “¥50” continuously repeated throughout.

The thicker security thread has a multicolour tone and switches colours between green, gold, and red depending on which angle the note is held at. The other feature is a holographic effect when the “boxes” on the thread move up and down when the note is tilted back and forth.

The denomination “50” in the centre of the note is printed in colour-shifting ink. It switches colours from light green to turqoise when the note is tilted:
