(en) The Christmas beetle is a uniquely Australian herald to a summer festive season. The Mint is proud to release this beautiful 2022 50c Coloured Uncirculated Coin to help us all get into the Christmas spirit. A luscious mandala of Christmas beetles printed in sparkling hyper metallic print are framed in detailed relief by a eucalyptus wreath adorned with beetles and native flowers.
At a special retail price of $10, the Mint’s 2022 Christmas decoration coin is the perfect Kris Kringle gift for one and all this Christmas. The stunning coin comes in a unique translucent hanging decoration in five different colours.
These hanging five different coloured cards/decorations are gilded with striking iridescent foil accents that the coin is issued in.
Australia Post has also issued the coin in a PNC , Issue 33 of 2022, Mintage 7,500.
(As all Australians know) A “Postal Numismatic Cover” or “PNC” is a specially designed envelope, combing both stamps and coins, bearing newly issued postage stamps which were postmarked on the first day that those stamps were placed on sale by the Post Office and a commemorative coin, all with the same theme.
A Fine Silver Proof version of the coin has also been issued.
