(en) This name corresponds to Rodbertus, missus of Pepin. Died before 764, he is the very first known member of the Robertian family. K. F. Werner proposed to identify it with Chrodebertus, count in Hesbaye (between Namur and Liège), mentioned in 741. Werner demonstrated that Chrod is identical to Rot and corresponds to Rot-bert (Robert), name used in each generation by his descendants.
