CNI attributed this type as a half denaro (obol) of the Bonacolsi era (1256-1328).
The new scholarship in MEC 12 (p. 393-394) places this coin in the reign of Louis I, when the Mantua coinage was following standards and styles of Verona, making this a mezzano of 2 denari piccoli. Numista is following the MEC attribution.
