Evocation of a 40 Nummi coin of Emperor Justinian the Great when the Eastern Roman Empire was at the height of its expansion with on the reverse an evocation of his magister militum Constantianus sent per Illyricum to recover Dalmatia, the campaign resulted in a full retreat by Gothic forces back to Italy.
Unlike this medal, the cruciger globe is always worn in the right hand on Byzantine coins.
