Bu madeni para, 1999 yılında Arthus Bertrand tarafından devralınmasından bu yana Arthus Bertrand'ın bir yan kuruluşu olan Saumur'daki Pichard-Balme tarafından basılmıştır.
Mevcut binanın inşasına 13. yüzyılın başlarında başlanmıştır. Notre-Dame de Paris ve Notre-Dame de Chartres katedrallerinden sonra, ancak Notre-Dame de Strasbourg, Notre-Dame d'Amiens ve Saint-Pierre de Beauvais katedrallerinden önce inşa edilmiştir. Meryem Ana'ya adanmış olan Reims Katedrali 14. yüzyılda tamamlanmıştır. Birinci Dünya Savaşı sırasında Alman bombardımanlarının neden olduğu yıkıcı bir yangınla tahrip olmuştur.
