Comments
(en) Victoriano Lorenzo was a Panamanian hero of the Thousand Days' War, fought between Colombian Liberals and Conservatives. (At the time, Panama was a mere department of Colombia.) Lorenzo fought for the Liberals and refused to accept defeat when the war ended, hiding with his men in the mountains and fighting in a guerilla conflict. He was executed mere months before Panama gained independence from a much-destabilized Colombia.
