This review article first summarizes the history of the collection of Byzantine coins in Dumbarton Oaks (Washington) and the decisive role P. Grierson has played for more than 40 years in its development and the publication, now completed, of its catalogue (DOC), a recognized reference in the field. It focusses on volume 5 and Palaeo- logan numismatics and ends with a few pages of supplements following the page numbering of the book.
