- colours that tone produces
- what metals the tone affects
- what chemical causes the tone (if possible to determine)
- If said tone is natural or artificial and how the tone is created
I would love to start with one of my own toned coins but alas I have nothing to take a good photo of it with (I’ve only got a phone camera and I usually use a friend’s scanner which I can’t do because I’m self-isolating) so you just have to take my word for it. Just a common Italian 10 lire from 1999 with faint white blotches on the surface (not a proper tone, but some kind of chemical discolouration) though it is surprisingly beautiful for that in my opinion. It just has a certain quality that draws me to it.
Go forth and post your toned coins!
