Here be toned coins!

Please submit your pictures and descriptions of toned coins here! I’d like to set up a guide to coin tones with a picture of that tone on a coin, a name for the tone and some information about the tone. Information will include:

• colours that tone produces
  
• what metals the tone affects
  
• what chemical causes the tone (if possible to determine)
  
• If said tone is natural or artificial and how the tone is created
  

I would love to start with one of my own toned coins but alas I have nothing to take a good photo of it with (I’ve only got a phone camera and I usually use a friend’s scanner which I can’t do because I’m self-isolating) so you just have to take my word for it. Just a common Italian 10 lire from 1999 with faint white blotches on the surface (not a proper tone, but some kind of chemical discolouration) though it is surprisingly beautiful for that in my opinion. It just has a certain quality that draws me to it.

I share your interest in beautiful toning but have the same issues as far as delivering high quality photos where they can be fully appreciated. For instance, I have 2 Mexican 1 Centavo coins KM#417 both made of brass where the 1957 is a stunning blue that toned naturally but similar to the artificial process of bluing steel. Where the 1960 is a beautiful Magenta, more purple than red but just gorgeous and also naturally toned. How they toned so differently I simply cant explain. I will try to take photos and edit this reply when I have satisfactory photos.
