Hi all!
I am currently looking for good sites where I can buy ancient and medieval coins, without having to doubt its authenticity. I have com across two sites, but I know too little about them to feel comfortable. We are, after all, talking about big money. The sites I've found are leunumismatik.com and numisbids.com. If anyone has any wxperience about any of these two sites, please let me know.

Cheers,
//H
Numisbids.com is just a collection site for lots from many different auction houses, also you can never be absolute sure even the most prestigious houses have made mistakes.
It would be nice to have a list of trustworthy websites

I see.
Well, of course one can never be 100% sure, but I am more confident in an auction house than "NummismatickBoy72538" on ebay. :D
Leu Numismatik is also an auction house.
They are from Switzerland and specialize in coins from the antiquities.

Hi and have a nice rest of the day.

I shop quite often at an auction on a local website. Or rather, I watch, evaluate and look for a good-value purchase in terms of price and quality.

I would also appreciate a thread which would refer , proven members of the numista -for bargain auctions on European websites.
Due to the postage prices absolutely essential, and even with us, when I sent outside the EU, I wanted mail for the first time -the mail employee entered into the PC registered consignments customs clearance questions about what I send and in what value.
this was the first time,, fortunately she's a neighbor and she wrote what I reported.
According to the law, it is already old in almost all countries over the age of 50 , So a 1970 coin is an antique -That's pretty stupid what.

Not all sellers want to sell abroad.
If you are interested, I will show you a functional insured website Our , I can also advise and help so take a look  :

Over the years i have probably bought from nearly each auction house that you will find on numisbids or sixbid.
These will all sell to worldwide.
Shipping, 95% will organize it themselves to ship worldwide.
On very few occasions with smaller french and Italian acution houses which asked me to find own transport companies such as MBE (Mail Boxes Etc.) company to organize a shipping with external companies. These however i found mostly from french and Italian auction portals.

Hello ngdawa:

I have used Numisbids many times without any serious problems. It is a site where various auction houses post their auctions. Leunumismaktik posts on Numisbids as well. I have bought some higher value coins from a number of the auction houses.

One minor problem I have, being Canadian, is that many of these auction houses in Europe do not take PayPal or VISA. At times my banks have charged enough for bank transfers (and I have not always lived close to a bank to purchase a bank transfer).

For the most the descriptions are accurate but occasional typos or minor lapses do occur (we are all human). Once you become familiar with medieval European coinage you should be able to spot these errors that are not intentional. The site has an area for old auctions, and as such, the site is a valuable resource for information on many coins. Certainly cheaper than trying to acquire all the individual coin books yourself.

Medieval coinage is still a relatively inexpensive area to collect and it has volumes of room for specialization in type and die varieties. Send me a reply if I can help.

Hopefully this blurb helps.
