Question: Which 2 of the following items are illegal to mail in the US?
a) cremated remains of humans
b) firearms
c) gasoline
d) money orders for purchase of lottery tickets
e) day-old emus
Some changes in rules. Responses must specify 2 items on a single entry to be counted. Each entrant can send multiple responses but they must be separated by at least 2 hours. Winner will be 5th response with both correct items at or before 12 A.M. Oct. 15, 2021 eastern US time. If there are not 5 correct responses, winner will be first person with correct answer. If there are no correct responses, winner will be earliest response with any 2 items. I will not give any more information about answers until I declare a winner.
Remember it is the 5th response with the correct answer (2 items) so if you think someone before you has the correct answer and has not submitted the 5th response, you can repeat the answer. Keep at least 2 hours between multiple answers you may make.

These rules are really puzzling me.
I guess then...
c) gasoline
d) money orders for purchase of lottery tickets
That didn't go so well. I declare smvdbrink and Nippon 725 joint winners and each will get a prize. Sorry for the confusion. Nippon 725, I will send you a PM asking your address.
Will try to make next giveaway simpler. I thought sure someone would guess one-day old emus!
Thanks to all who participated! Stick with the competitions, guys.

I don't see what didn't go well? I was lucky to refresh the page shortly after Nippon gave his answer and that made me the 5th correct entry

Why did you give the stamps to the fifth and to make it more confusing 6th as well.
Shouldn't you give it to the first correct guesser.
What was the point of me submitting my answer? To be a sacrificial lamb so the count would get one step closer to 5 for someone else to win?

Shouldn't you give it to the first correct guesser. The rules were specific. 5th correct answer, not the first.

I had the first correct answer and was fully prepared to submit it again after the 4th one and would have if I wasn't sound asleep. This contest was completely fair and very entertaining and I learned a few things about the USPS. What more could you ask for?

Thank you again coinman for hosting these giveaways BTW.
But I still don't see the objective of giving the prize to the 5th guesser. It basically gives all the work to the first correct answeree and then everyone else piggy-backs on the trend.
No cause for frustration. The giveaway is over and congrats to the winners!

I was trying to make the contest more random in nature than earlier ones, to introduce an element of chance. I will probably experiment with more changes in the future. I did put in the possibility of sacrificial lambs to make additional efforts, which was an attempt to level the playing field. I'm surprised I haven't had complaints that the times I submit entries are preferential for some people over others. But sometimes things are fair but not equal. And sometimes I have good ideas and sometimes not so good. Who doesn't?
There will be more giveaways with more questions so keep on participating and enjoy yourselves.
I could just do this like a straight raffle. Say I will assign numbers up to 25, for example, as entries are received and then pick a number from slips of paper to win or say the 4th response wins. But I think the questions add interest and fun. Suggestions for changes are welcome.
