I thought this was a George II, but on closer inspection it seems a foreign coin...can anyone help with ID?
Many thanks

Have found many George II coins nearby while metal detecting...finally find a forgery! Thanks for your help, I will know what I find next time, especially as so many coins were forged in 18th c..

Those are great! Many very amusing legends.
They were indeed well known in the young United States.
A clue from period literature - In
The House of Seven Gables , first published in 1851, Miss Hepzibah Pynchon opens a "cent shop" . Her uncle gives her some advice including "Never take paper-money! Look well to your change! Ring the silver on the four-pound weight! Shove back all English half-pence and base copper tokens, such as are very plenty about town!"
