U.S.C.C 1oz Silver Rounds??

7 posts • viewed 133 times
I used to belong to a American Coin Collecting group which was called U.S. Coin Collecting and whilst a member I purchased some limited edition 1oz Silver Rounds that the club produced around Christmas time, the club was founded in 2002 and I bought the silver rounds from my time with the group.
My health meant that I could not participate in the club's chats and am sad to say that I have lost touch with some great guys, I have no idea if the club is still going but when I searched a site called Ning.com I couldn't find them?

The coins I got were from :-
2008 when 65 pieces were made. (I have 2)
2009 when 65 pieces were made. (I have 1)
2010 when 110 pieces were made. (I have 3)

Would I be correct in using the terminology that these are numismatic exonumia?
Will try and get some photos of these tomorrow.

Yes, Exonumia. Something like this? https://en.numista.com/catalogue/exonumia89783.html

Edit: This is also in the Exonumia catalog: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/exonumia74330.html
Hi thanks for your reply, yes that looks like the group was still on the go in 2012, would really like to hook up with the guys again.
As I said in my initial post all the rounds had the same generic reverse (U S.Coin Collecting) the obverse design being put to the members to vote on from maybe four designs, the design with the most votes was then produced, members would pay in advance and a cut off date was given hence the rounds only have relative short production runs.
I have fifty of those wooden designs.

Andi

Like something done here recently that you just missed. https://en.numista.com/forum/topic115107.html

I did try the website shown on the second token I listed. It's defunct. Possibly the members that posted the pictures were in the group?
Here are my photos as promised.

These are from 2008,2009 + 2010

Hey Andi -

I was in the MSN group and also in the Ning group but only “active” for 4-5 years. I have 4 each of the first 4 years of the Silver rounds. I occasionally see posts from one of the old members in one of the Facebook coin groups I am in, and am Facebook friends with 6 more USCC members, although IDK the last time we've communicated. I believe you and I communicated 13-14 years ago if I'm not mistaken.

Hi Greg

I believe we did use to chat, most of the guys knew me as ukgeezer but I also answered to the nickname DACB ( dumb ass crazy Brit ) due to the fact that it was always after midnight that I used to stay awake to chat to my friends across the pond.

I still have my collection of US coins.
