Hello,

Now knowing that setting default catalogues for each country is not a set option, could Xavier think about adding such a function?

The Irish catalogue is mainly built around the Spink catalogue. So instead of KM being the default catalogue, could jt be changes to SP for Spink in Ireland? This would make it easier when adding coins, as I would not have to scroll down trying to find the Spink catalogue which is fairly had to locate.

Thanks,

 Stan

Changed ticket type to suggestion and moved to different category.

This is a default parameter applied to the complete site without customization per issuer currently.

Oh, does it have to be default, can Xavier do anything about this? If not then please reject this.

I cannot act on this default sorting parameter that is why I moved your ticket here with proper option (suggestion to improve) so we can track the idea.

I personally like the idea as KM is useless for most of the coinage I'm in charge…but I cannot answer the technical part and will leave this to Xavier.

One improvement already discussed that will help is to have “Reference catalogue” field aligned with format used for a couple of other fields like Issuer, Mint, etc. i.e. you type the reference code (KM, RIC, Spink, etc.) or the author name and it would suggest the corresponding catalogue(s) in the database.

A related  idea here: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic120618.html. But some catalogues are cross-issuers and this would be complex and time-consuming to manage properly, so the above point I mention seems more adapted in my mind.

I would agree that KM is of limited use in many cases, and of little use for Irish coins in particular - we, collectors of Irish coin, all use Spink.

However, I can see the technical issue around the default catalogue settings on numista, and that it might not be technically possible to set country specific defaults.

It would be great to be able to set country specific defaults though!

Why do you need to scroll? Just type ‘sp’ … I hope you are not a referee who exclusively uses a phone.

No I'm not, but as I'm currently on vacation I don't really have my mac at hand.

Thanks. Rejected is fine, we're not all from Ireland. I don't even have an Irish coin catalog, so the local numbers are just a loss of information for nothing. KM# cover it fairly well for most of us?
