In 1925, STIPEL, Piedmont and Lombardy Interregional Telephone Company, was founded by the SIP electric group in Turin to manage, under a state concession, telephone service in Piedmont, Lombardy and Valle d'Aosta. The company establishes itself in Turin, in the "Palazzo dei Telefoni" in Via Confienza, formerly home to the city's only automatic exchange, and initiates infrastructure investments to develop the Piedmont and Lombardy network and build new exchanges.
