This is mintless “1477” type coin dated AH960. G&G#D980

It is called “1477” type coin due to the numerals 1477 on the top along with the Star of David symbol. The significance of this number and the symbol is not known

What are the holes drilled into it? Metal tests from times past?

The punches are test marks, also called Shroff marks, made by merchants before they accepted the coin to make sure it was solid silver and not just plated. Very common on medieval silver Indian coins.
