Please help identifying copper coin 14 mm.

could it be french?

Or Italy? 

 Behind the portrait is it AUGUSTUS lettering?

Is possible. There are other letters too.

I can't regognize it. 

I don't think it's the Roman Augustus. I guess the coin is from the Middle Ages.

 Agreed. Could still be different lettering. 

Other side not sure what it is, or lettering, or which way round >

 Although, with the obverse of a right-facing portrait of a larger person …

which also ends with L lettering on lower right - and mainly AUGUSTUS name. 

And a letter on reverse below middle of the two curved shields.

 Lastly, may not be that exact coin, but similar. 

 

 

Lettering: AUGUSTUS III REX POL. // EL : SAX : 1755 

 May not be III nor 1755 date.

 This is 15mm with an inverted T between the shields and 1752 date >
