Lebanon- 5 piastre - 1970

Hello,

Has anyone seen a 5 piastre dating back to 1970 but in silver color? the catalog says that 1970 coin should be in copper and nickel. But seems like the one I have is just nickel. Plus it has 3 holes in it. Any idea why it would be this way? 

 

Welcome to Numista. Nobody can know for certain and It is anybody's guess as to the exact purpose of this altered and post mint damage coin. Perhaps it was altered and colored to be part of a belly dancer belt, a piece of jewelry, a button, or myriad other possibilities. 

Yes ,it was most probably used as a button.
