HAS TO BE AN ERROR RIGHT? I took a picture of it next to a normal 1980 penny above so you can see the difference!
If anyone can tell me anything about this penny I would be so grateful! 😊
Just fortunate PMD.
I die chip would be raised. That looks to be recessed.
why do you say it looks recessed? looks anything but! its like a blob of extra metal
If this is a new error not seen yet before does anyone have any idea what it might be worth?

Because in your pictures it looks recessed. Why else would I say that? Try taking a picture that shows it looks like a blob.
I tried to manipulate the photo for clarity and yes, strange. A blister, cud, defective planchet, or greased filled die are the only things that I can think of that MAY explain this but there would surely be other examples. Not sure if this qualifies as a true error or if it would add additional value. If somebody wanted to place a premium on it, that would be their decision. I see it as a curiosity only and would keep it if I had it but certainly would not pay a premium to acquire it.
So you tell us what it is and not what it isn't. You ask for opinions but don't like the answers. Seems you merely want confirmation that you found something RARE and Valuable. Based on your history, you are just one of the myriad of treasure hunters looking to profit from unremarkable pocket change with unsubstantiated claims. Good luck with that.
wow harsh, you must be the same guy who told me my 1970 s penny that has a cud error was PMD lol
I think you personally literally just are out to tell everyone they found nothing and that you have some sort of serious attitude problem too, you talk like you are THE world renowned expert or something lol How bout you in particular refrain from commenting on my posts?

Here's the question here to ask:
Is this an ERROR, like a cud or filled die, or is this a VARIETY never before identified?
If this were a unique or rare variety, it could be worth many thousands of dollars. But that is highly unlikely. Read more about the process of crafting dies and planchets if interested. You will soon see why this is so unlikely. If you remain confident that this is a variety submit it to PCGS for certification amd attribution.
However, if this is an error or post mint damage like glue etc, which is most likely, then its value is a function of the type of error or damage and the concomitant desirability, which is likely 0. Someone on ebay might like this, I often see common coins on ebay listed for hundreds or thousands of dollars. They dont sell. So start at 10 bucks and maybe it will sell. But proably not.
PS: you came here for advice but seem not to like the answer. There are several other coin forums. Feel free to post your pics around and get a concensus.
