Hello, this coin is extremely worn, thin and fragile. I have tried using what IS visible such as the ‘font + letters’ to research but so far haven't been able to find anything. Any help or guidance would be appreciated. Thank you
Congratulations Alexander, I really thought you were completely wrong but now I have to admit you're right. And that's a great job because the obverse is in such a bad condition. But I have to turn both pictures a little further to the right and then you can see the lettering of the reverse starts matching very well. And also the cross on the left and on the bottom. Really, great identification, I'm impressed.
Thank you both for your help, I see the similarities and definitely think its the same coin. For a coin in such a worn condition I am so impressed that you found it! Much appreciated.
Do you think it is possible to clean - and if so, what would be the best materials for me to use for this? Or does it have to be professionally done? Thank you
Salve, fosse la mia la lascierei cosi com'è perchè ha una bella patina e il fascino dell usura dei secoli. Al massimo un bagno in acqua demineralizzata per togliere eventuali tracce di terra.
Your coin is seriously worn. What's gone is gone, you can't get that back by cleaning. Like Alexander said, some demineralized water to remove soil, much more you can't do.
Yes just to get any excess dirt off it, thank you both for your suggestions I will try this. Do you think the condition is too worn for me to consider selling it? I have tried to research the sales of the coin online but there is hardly any information. I found one previous sale but the condition of coin was much better then mine. I am not knowledgeable with this, would the best course of action to be for me to contact the place that coin has sold previously and ask them? Even just trying to find the possible value (if there is any) has been quite hard to do! Any advice on how to go about this? Thanks in advance
