As the title says I am new to collecting and having a hard time identifying this coin.  I have tried using the image search on here as well as a general Google image search, but neither found an exact match.  The closest thing I can find is this N#345491 but its not quite right, so I went through all of the coins from the issuer link
Unified Carolingian Empire but didn't find a match there either.

Unfortunately I do not have a way to measure the width so I included a picture of the coin in question between a US dime and US penny to try and provide some scale.  Weight is 2.15g and it is not magnetic.

If anyone is able to identify this or point me in a better direction it would be greatly appreciated.

On one side it looks like either a monogram or an ornatel letter A in the center, and lettering which contains  + SE … DMVD REX

The cross side it is harder to make sense of the lettering.

I think someone here will recognize it (but not me🙂)

Hi, this should be an anonymous penny in honor of St Edmund king of East Anglia. I can't decipher the side with the cross. I'll put a referral link.

N#53972

N#109182

Looks like a fake or modern fantasy to me. Far to round and thick.

In fact the weight doesn't match, it seems like a fake to me too

It looks somewhat similar to the coin you posted, but the symbols are a fair bit different.  Were there any other possibilities you were considering that I can compare to?

With that legend (SC EDMVUD REX), searching online, everything leads to St Edmund, but they all weigh no more than 1.5g, so I have some doubts about their authenticity.

Ok.  Thank you both for the information.  I'll leave this up for a bit to see if any other information/opinions come in and then close it.

Poking around on acsearch (using East Anglia Edmund) one can find a lot of examples.  The first 30 or so I looked at had weights between 1.04 and 1.47 grams, so I agree with the other comments.

Welcome to Numista!

If you have a ruler you can measure the diameter.
