Hello, if I am looking this up correctly, coin by coin, these are very valuable silver pieces. About the last silver I have in dad's collection.

But I do not find a listing for the coin with the fish?

Could I get an estimate what the set togethe  would be worth please?

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/index.php?e=ajman&r=&ct=coin&im1=&im2=&tb=y&tc=y&tn=y&tt=y&tp=y&cat=y&ru=&ca=3&no=&v=7.5&i=&b=&ie=&u=&a=&dg=&m=&f=&t=&w=&mt=&g=&se=&d=&c=&wi=&sw=

If you go to the respective coin pages N#39041 , N#32300 and N#38895 and you scroll down to almost the bottom, you'll see “Past sales”. Then you have an idea for how much the coins individually are sold. And yours are still in the original set, that might give you a premium.

But as you can see, prices can be far apart. When you look at this one N#38895 , one is sold for 2525 €, another one for 130 €! No idea why that first one got so expensive. These are expensive coins, but not so expensive to justify that price. Probably two bidders with a lot of money bidding against each other.

I paid for this one N#39041 (as you can see the picture is mine on the coin page) 108 €, but that was in December 2018.

The one that sold for 2525 euro was a proof (650 minted) but was attributed to the mint set line.

The one that sold for 2525 euro was a proof (650 minted) but was attributed to the mint set line.

I saw that, but that doesn't explain that ultra high price. The one from 94.31 € was also a proof coin and even graded (PF65 Ultra Cameo), which makes it mostly even more expensive.

I see these kind of coins often enough but never for that high price. Maybe they fell for that toning?

Here's a comparable set, also proof, from another Emirate, and other denominations, but still, I bought that set for 355 €:

That 2525 € for only that  1 coin is extremely high:

I's sure you're right.

I submitted a CR yesterday to correct the past sale attributed to the wrong line which was accepted. The Numista values went from this

to this:

Interesting that one wacko value can have that much affect.

Since the Numista value is the median of 5 minimum (maybe 4) values it is not a case of one value raising the average. There has to be other sales/member input with high values.  Maybe @Xavier can explain?

Here are a few more results, mostly a few years older, all reasonable prices, but unfortunately only 1 proof:

And he who seeks will find. I've found another one which was so expensive, 2800 USD, but now I know why. It wasn't because of the toning. I know there was something odd with that very expensive coin. Here's the picture and look in the red oval:

That's a DIFFERENT coin! That's not the KM# 5 but the KM# E8, that explains that immense high price. Although you can see here again how far real prices and prices in catalogs can differ:

Wow, this coin world is much more than I ever thought or imagined! Thank you rsirian & Essor Prof for the information. This discussion has really brought out looking, finding these details ( which I am not good at - yet). Still odd the range in pricing on these.

I am so amazed and proud of what dad picked for beauty, value & history. I wish he could be here as this gets organized to see it all put together

The problem is that two high values would not affect the median much. There has to be more very high values to have the median so high. I’d still like to know the values that went into the Numista value.

My advice: once you sort and identify all your coins, pick out those which seem to be worth $100 or more. Consider having those graded and slabbed by NGC or PCGS. A good dealer can submit them for you (not a pawn shop, but a real coin dealer). Cost is about $40 a coin (cheaper if you become a member and submit the coins yourself).

Thank you TCon. I had not thought of doing that since I am keeping them. But it would be a good idea I guess to do this. I assume you get some sort of paperwork/tag to put with it. Will not be spending money anytime soon for this but in the future, thank you!
