Half Sovereign Dimensions

I was curious to know the dimensions of a Half Sovereign Proof (1982)

Weighs at 4.00g

Diameter of 19.34mm

But the thickness is 1.20mm 

Reading online it should be around the 1mm mark.

Any cause for concern? 
 

Hello MJG.  Wouldn't be too worried about your 1982 half sovereign proof. The weight and the diameter are both correct. I am presuming the piece looks OK. 

I have got 2 half sovereigns of that year: thickness 1.0mm and the other 1.1mm. Calipers will have a small degree of error and there can sometimes be a small degree of operator error. Your coin should be fine. Enjoy it.

If you are really concerned get then check the density, get it xrf tested or find someone with a sigma metalytic Tester. At the end of the day these are just bullion pieces.
