Help with Identifying a Possible Alexander II Scottish Penny

2 posts • viewed 79 times

Hello everyone,

I would like some assistance in identifying a coin that I believe may be a silver penny (denier) from the reign of Alexander II of Scotland, around 1235. The coin weighs 1.24 grams and appears to be made of silver. However, I would appreciate confirmation of this identification, as well as any additional details or insights you may be able to provide about its type, mint, and historical context.

Thank you in advance for your expertise and help!

Based on the positioning of the scepter in front of the face (eye level instead of nose level) and the letter positioning on the reverse where the cross intersects them I would guess this coin.  No expert by any means but my 2 cents
