Is this the “holy grail” in modern silver coins regarding mintage or does anybody know a rarer coin of this type?

Wellcome to numista,

Please give us numista link to the coin in question?

Sorry - I posted it under the coin and thought it would be linked:

“Decade for woman” not “Year of the child” - sorry!

Considering that it is not a coin I want to collect, then no, it's not a holy grail for me.

I understand that of course - everybody is collecting different kind of coins.

But just considering modern silver coins its the rarest coin of this kind I know.

If somebody collects old Roman coins or something like that it's probably not even regarded as a "real" coin - but I like these big silver coins from the 70s and 80s.

Also do I still lack the expert knowledge for ancient coins right know. ;)

Please show the modern coins some love too.  :) Especially for beginners its an excellent way into the hobby without a big risk of loosing a lot money. Most of these coins are traded not far above the silver price and knowledge comes with engagement. :)

Modern “collector” coins are a huge risk of losing money unless they were purchased near melt or maybe were gifted.

You are right and I would never buy them "new".

But if you buy these coins “used” at spot price or a little bit higher you can get very beautiful coins without any risk (except silver price change) and if you are a bit lucky some will rise their value above melt value.

Like these for example (the mintage is not even very low):

N#58408

or this

N#19803

and I think they are quite beautiful.

Of course most of them will never rise a lot above the silver value but I prefer to buy these coins instead of Maples or Philharmonics for example.

I still think its a good start to get into coin collecting.

Low mintage number and rare should not be conflated. The word rare is so widely abused that it should not be used at all here, particularly regarding modern pieces made for collectors. Manufactured scarcity is not the same as rarity.

A propos, 372 doesn't seem particularly low to me. For example, here is one I found in about 10 seconds N#112153

edit to add another N#112202

Thank you - that's what I was looking for. :)

edit: We can assume that some of these coins got lost over time - so the actual number might be even lower.
