Unknown Iranian Coin? [solved]

5 posts • viewed 84 times

Hello all,

This was a coin that I had recently obtained and I cannot seem to find any reference to this coin. The owner who sold this seem to think it was Iranian and I agree as well. Trouble is that I can't seem to find any record of it here or anywhere else.

The Coin has a 25 mm diameter and around 4.5-5mm thickness. Very much a copper alloy and depicts a deer or a type of stag.

Hope to hear what it is!

Iran, Civic copper ( falus) of Urumi mint, dated AH 123(1)? (1815 AD)

 last  date digit not clear,

Usually these have a Lion but yours looks like a Deer,  nice coin!

Is there a database that has this coin on there as I can't seem to find any indication on the internet.

Zeno is the world database for coins like this, maybe your coin has an Ibis although it differs from the examples on zeno for both sides of the coin

Thanks! I found some similarities but my guess is that it is a variant of the other coins that were found from there.
