This request is for the inclusion of Banco Emissor do Norte (Northern Issuing Bank) as issuing bank, for local banknotes from Brazil in 1890 (P#S576 to P#S579).
The Banco Emissor do Norte had a short duration (between 1888 and 1891) and was authorized to issue banknotes for circulation in some federal states in the North of Brazil. That time was quite turbulent for the history of Brazil, with the transition from the Empire to the Republic; when there were many authorizations for the legal issuance of money to circulate in the territory. In particular, the issues of Banco Emissor do Norte did not enter into circulation, with only Specimens and Proofs issued.
