A man with good skills smoothed the reverse of a [George III] copper coin,
then added a grooved rim and engraved the initials J C of his love,
and lastly on the obverse hollowed out an area to place a [Charles II] small silver coin in.
ZacUK — I’ve just had a look at that love token you shared previously. That is so cool! I have never seen a coin inside another coin like that, but only on one side! So much skill and patience must have gone into that.
British George III love token — 1820 sixpence
This love token is a bit different to the traditional engraved love tokens you see, but it is an example of a love token nonetheless. Couples with insufficient money to purchase rings would often bend a sixpence (or really any silver coin) as a symbol of their love. There can be more information found about these online, such as here https://metaldetectingforum.com/index.php?threads/love-tokens.22902/ if anyone is interested in some further reading.
Australian (?) George V(?) love token — 1911-1936 sixpence (?)
Here is another love token. I believe that the host coin of this one is an Australian sixpence from 1911-1936. It is incredibly hard to see in the photos, but at the top of the unengraved side, you can make out the top of the king’s crown, and also the edge of his robes at the 4 and 5 o’clock positions. I will have a closer look and see if I can confirm what the host coin is.
I am pretty sure I’ve got some more love tokens somewhere, so there are hopefully more to come.

Thanks. I guess that is why it is a love token -
as it is made with love and skill.
I like them, thanks for sharing.
I am sorry I don't have any to add here.
A little late, but just remembered I have this from 1787
No idea what was on the reverse before it was smoothed off for engraving.
