1794 merchant token [solved]

6 posts • viewed 82 times

Hello, I'm just looking for some clarification about this coin. N#8692. The comments says that there are varieties D#53-55, and that there is joint tokens. The part that adds it to my collection doesn't seem to be mine. So I was wondering what exactly I have and if the page should be updated?

What edge lettering does yours have?

The edge lettering is the same as in the listing ( payable at sharps portsmouth and chaldecotts chichester). But I was more wondering about the reverse inscription being flipped (chichester and portsmouth as opposed to the picture being portsmouth and chichester).

Your token is ½ Penny (Sussex / Chichester - John Howard), ref. Sussex DH#19-20, not currently in the catalogue.

Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.

Thanks, much appreciated.
