Hello,

There are a few Assamese states that issued coins (Mainly the Kingdom of Kamarupas [Varman dynasty) and Assam Mlechchha Dynasty) in the post-gupta to medieval time frame. After consulting with the referee, and considering that there aren't five or six each, I believe it is best if one category is in place for all future additions. If we find we have enough coins from a single issuer amongst them, we can then create a separate issuer, but the states of the regions should have a home on this site.

There are staters (Gold) and smaller Copper fractions. It would be nice if we have a currency with a stater (likely at 1 or at 20) and some kind of fractional copper unit value.

Thanks,

@sujit_kumar  Do you think we should add Assam as a sub-issuer in India (Ancient) for this?

It is fine as long as we have atleast 4 or 5 coins to add in this section

I have found listings for six or so, different dynasties within the region.

@Rajbarage  @sujit_kumar  for rulers I have seen:

- Bhaskaravarman with dates variously reported as 600-650, 620-650, 640-655

- Vanamalavarman (832-855 according to Wikipedia)

- Harjaravarman (815-832 according to Wikipedia)

For denominations, as you said, I see a gold dinar, a large bronze unit (circa 14 gr.) and a small bronze unit (variable, but 2 - 4 gr.).

I will set up the issuer with these, and listings are created, we can see how this works.

The sub-issuer “Assam” has now been created under India (Ancient), but it won't be visible in the Issuer list until the first Creation Request is added..

The first Creation Request for this sub-issuer will require typing in the name Assam, and then you will see it as a choice under India (Ancient).

The currency Stater will be available from the Currency dropdown menu, and it already has choices for Stater and Bronze Unit.  If you think it would be helpful to create a “Large Bronze Unit” option, we could add that.

I will add the three rulers mentioned above.

I have added the first coin, but there is no currency that is separate. Thanks!
