1989 cent with lamination problem and partial design [Machined] [solved]

Hi there, here’s another oddity. I have this 1989 cent, with an obverse that’s missing most of the design, as well as the biggest part of the plating… Only the center shows part of the design and the copper plating. It weighs 2,4 g and has a diameter of 19 mm. Obverse is as usual. Is this a legit error, or just a coin someone had fun with ?

Thanks !

The copper plating is so thin that even if it were missing the coin design would still be there.  Someone mechanically removed it. The edge rim is probably missing, too.

Judging from the pictures, it does seem to have a rim, but I’ll need to check on the actual coin.
