this coin has strange writing to my eye but im sure it is obvious to mainly scholars here

It's a Madras presidency ¼ rupee of Madras mint although they have the mint written on the coin as Arkat, viewing the coin the right way up you can see the frozen date ah1172 on the left image. The other side has regnal year 6 and the lotus flower mintmark is clear. However the weird circle in the middle must be a counterstamp as it does not belong to the coin

fantastic
thank you so much
I now have lots to go on to learn about this coin .
i am really really impressed by the knowledge of people on this site .
truly inspirational

‘the weird circle in the middle’
looks like where a pin was soldered (before it fell off),
so it could be worn on clothing.
Similar was done to this coin, as an example
wow yes i see
great idea
i know people used coins as jewellery / ornamentation on clothing so that is very possible
thank you so much
