MIR is working by mints, not issuers, it's an old issue we solved to stop following such catalogues when chosing issuers poke @Xavier @Jarcek @tdziemia I really feel the never ending cyclic pain very acute here 😅

@cippirimerlo   The Numista catalog structure can be confusing for medieval Italy (compared to other Italy catalogs).

For the period of Ottonian and early Hohenstaufen rule, the coins are not under Italy, but are under Carolingian section.

Only when the cities become “independent” (normally mid-12th century) we put the coins in Italy States.

@Compendium I will take care of these.

Very well put explanation thanks !

Should we add this warning in Pavia Intro somehow?

Sorry about that, the logic is now clear

It applies for all of the oldest mints of northern Italy until circa 1150 … Pavia, Milan, Verona, Venice.

Yes, Lucca too

We could set Kingdom of Italy as predessor for those issuers probably, as a first step

👍This part is done.

I am slowly working through the duplicates to be sure we do not lose any of the MIR varieties and to check the correspondence of the MIR and MEC numbers before deleting.

Please think about updating MIR codes (like MIR LOM etc) while doing so

👍

This is now complete.

  • Three have been deleted.
  • This one:  N#480983  has been “re-purposed” into a missing type
  • The last one  N#480988     is a separate type, MIR 838 , with the ligatured HE in the emperor's name, estimated to be the latest one in the series (Brambilla and MEC 12).

MIR references updated to MIR LOM.
