The seller of this lead seal claimed that it was medieval and papal. I’m not sure I see the evidence for that.
Does anyone recognize the crest that appears on one side of the seal? It seems to feature a single chevron bar with what looks like 5 I’s across it, a crescent to the left above (not sure what’s in the upper right), and a knobby fleur-de-lis or poppy below.
I’d be very grateful for thoughts on age and nationality (and use!) even if you don’t know the specific crest or coat of arms. Thanks in advance!
