Please, help to identify the coin or medal [solved]

6 posts • viewed 63 times

Hello everyone,

I would like to ask for help with the identification of a small copper jeton or token.

  • Metal:  I think it’s copper (thin flan, irregular shape);
  • Obverse: probably, The Russian Imperial Crown under the words OMN… OMNIA VICTA;
  • Reverse: Saint George over some other words and under the word TETTON.

It was found in Russia in Kaluga oblast near Moscow region.

Does anyone know if this type is published, or could it be an unpublished/rare variety?

Any information or references would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

 It was made in Germany, with IETTON lettering for jetton or jeton.

Below the crown the lettering of  REICH  may

be Johann Christian Reich, the German designer.

Still looking …

 Trying to work out crown side

OMNIBUS OMNIA REGIA / REICH

perhaps. Now trying the other side …

Correction: It is FACTA not REGIA lettering.

 There was this from six years ago >

giving SAPIENTIA HEROICA / IETTON for the horse side.

 Then this reply, ignoring obsolete link -

Peace of Teschen (End of the War of the Bavarian Succession) 1779
Brass, 24mm
Engraver: JOHANN CHRISTIAN REICH (1740-1814)

 Another reply -

 In Mitchiner’s ”Jetons, medalets & tokens” volume one (Nuremberg) this jeton is

described and illustrated as nr. 2203 as made for the death of the French king

Louis XVI who was executed on 21 January 1793.

 This token is made by Johann Christian Reich who worked

in Fürth (near Nuremberg) from 1758 till 1814.
