I'm currently in the UK. I got so many coins as change when I bought things. But up to now, I have NEVER encountered even a single Charles III coin. Why is it so rare in the UK?

There are probably more then enough queen EII coins still around so the new ones will be given out in the years to come.

Agreed. Also I guess anyone getting the new coin in their change might
keep it as a souvenir - not only for the new portrait but maybe even more
so because of the lovely reverse designs …
Someone a few weeks ago showed me a new £1 which he said he got three of
them in change from a supermarket - he kept that one, passed one on to his sister,
and spent the other one. So they are out there, slowly …

The £1 coins are showing up. I found one a week ago.
I don't think most of the others have been released yet.
Not much small change is used anymore.

I was in Canada earlier this month, and they are in pocket change there ($2 2025).

A friend of my sister was visiting Canada last month.
She managed to get me one 2024 25 cent coin.

You will need to order them from the Royal Mint website.

Look at the £1 coin, and it will tell you if any collector, like me, has one for exchange. Not seen any others.

The coronation 50p is more common than the definitive set. I've seen several of these in change.

I got two in London. It seems that Charles coins are more common in London than other places?

Although, the question about the Britannia coin is not connected to the original forum question, it deserves an answer.
I wish you all the best in getting any commemorative 2 pound coin, let alone a specific coin as per your question. Most are in collections and others are most likely in coin shops for sell or even on this website for exchange.

Am in Canada. It's almost a quarter of all our cashier's petty banks now. No bills tho.

It must be tough living in a place where the person on the obverse of the coins didn't change for 70 years.
Oh … wait! That's also the case here!!! 😁
