Does South Sudan and North Sudan have different currencies, or are there plans for the South to start making their own money? Emphasis in MONEY (not commemorative as so many other countries which use some other type of currency and only make comms to attract collectors).

South has the Oil and Gold, no wonder why they splitted. They might lost the exit to sea that the North has, but with all that richness they can make their own sea if they want  (8

The South was culturally and ethnically much closer to Uganda than to the more Arab oriented North. Sudan as a single country was mainly a product of Western colonization. Egypt claimed Sudan as well.

Despite the resources the South is still very poor and recently quite violent as well. Let's hope they can get their act together and cooperate more with Uganda & Kenya to develop a stable country, which of course would be enough reason to issue real non-paper currency :-)
