Help on a roman coin!!

8 posts
Hello,
I have a roman coin and nobody seems to help me find the date and the design on the coin.
The only thing they told me its Cyprus roman coin.
If you have any information that would be great.
Thank you!! :D
the coin is to much worn
perhaps you can try here: http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/
Non est totum quod splendet ut aurum
Rijkdom bestaat niet uit het hebben van veel bezittingen, maar in het hebben van weinig behoeften
I cannot access the site.Is there another site i can check for the coin please?
Judging by what looks like an eagle holding thunderbolts in its paws, this might be the remnants of a Ptolemaic coin from Egypt or even Cyprus, since it was a part of Ptolemaic Egypt after the division of Alexander the Great Empire.
Anyway, in this sorry condition what used to be a coin hardly has any numismatic or other value.
I collect coins and tokens which circulated in Africa from 18th century to 2000. I sell about 7000 illustrated world coins from http://www.avscoins.com.

That site is good, keep trying it might be temporarily down.  Worked for me.  This site is also good:

It is very worn.  To me it looks like it may be one of the many "Fallen Horseman" variations.  It has some of those outlines.

Search FEL TEMP REPARATIO and Fallen Horseman.  Here are some on Numista:

He might be able to pawn it off as a PO-1 coin  :° , seriously, don't even bother spending the time as these coins are fairly cheap and hence you can get a stellar looking coin for a great price...
Thank you all for the info.
I have searched on the web and i found similar eagles but no same faces.
The face is worrying me.It looks like he  or she is wearing a helmet with feather hanging on the back.
If you have more info please tell,
If we let loose our imagination, the obverse looks like a female portrait with a bun (there is a deep corrosion area making hair look like a feather), it could be that of Bernice, wife of Ptolemy III, or maybe Arsinoe.
See images in the middle of this plate (e.g. 24, 25)

But there is little left from the coin, which makes it impossible to define it properly.

I would disagree with the statement above that Ptolemaic Egypt coins are "fairly cheap and hence you can get a stellar looking coin for a great price..."
Here is a portrait of Bernice (or Berenice, or Berenike in other spellings) on a silver coin which I call stellar and like a lot

I collect Africa, including Egypt (without gold), and have several coins from Ptolemaic period both in bronze and silver, but this one is well beyond my means

Any Ptolemaic AE coins in VF or better will probably cost at least $50 and higher. I am not saying this of the coin in the first post, obviously.
