  • Crus1 - Possible Medieval or coins form the crusades
I am a bit out my depth with these two coins so I have combined them in the hope that they may be medieval of from the crusades and submit them in the hope that someone can point me in the right direction,

Just went through CCS (Coins of the Crusader States) and it is definitely not a Crusader coin...

Thanks for giving it your best shot. I am at a loss as to where to go from here and will continue to search.

My guess would be French for the first coin as I can see Fleur-de-lis if you rotate the coin 90 CCW. The second one might be Spanish or French as well. Can't tell what the obverse is on that one...

I have applied some filters and tried to improve the images:

Cilician Armenia?

No, the legends are in English/Latin and not in Armenian.
I had a bit of an inkling on the second coin, but wasn't sure until now. I couldn't find my copy of Nicolò Papadopoli's Le monete di Venezia and I forgot where I downloaded it from. It is a Venetian Tornesello, but I'll let you figure out which Doge the coin is from. I can't have all the fun B). There are two versions of the book that is freely available, one from Gutenberg that has no plate images, but is very readable and the one from Google that has all the plate images, but is not searchable. The Google version has poor image quality and the original digitized version in a higher resolution is available from the Hathi Trust. The links are below including a specimen of a better quality for illustration, note that the coin is not mine.

Personally, I use the Hathi Trust for the illustrations and use the Gutenberg PDF for attributions (very easy to copy and paste into Google Translate). Been meaning to combine the two, but never found the time...

The following coin has been added for illustration purposes only and hence is NOT my coin:

I was trying to figure out what the first coin was until I stumbled upon the following document when searching for Spanish Umayyad coins. Now, it is clear. It is a crown and could possibly from Navarre:

See the following document, in Spanish:

PS: the crusaders did not have coins. But they transported coins from the templar knights

Thanks for reminding me. Any pointers as to what the coins are?

I have seen tha crown on coins of Bohemia, Poland, UK, Germany ....

The top of the crown looks like fleur de lys: France? Tournais (Doornik)?
