The details look VF to me,but my only concerns would be what appears to be hairline scratches on the obverse and what is on the surface on the reverse between the stars above the eagle's head and in the area of the arrows.
It's a good deal, Barber coins (especially quarters and halves) are very hard to come by in good condition. It is VF, and there are hairline scratches, but overall it's still a bargain.
It's amazing how such nicely designed coins can be so ugly when worn down to the below F state (like most of my Barbers). Maybe some minor embuggeration as noted by others but still.... that's what these coins should look like with the nice tones and plenty of detail. Try finding a liberty nickel that looks like this!
It's still more than I would pay for it because a} I'm not enthusiastic about US coins although I have a collection, and b} I'm a cheapskate.
Non illegitimis carborundum est. Excellent advice for all coins.

So true! Just look at Standing Liberty Quarters. Although I think V nickels are plain ugly in any grade.
On the subject of V nickels, and with apologies to Neil for the sidetracking, have you noticed that the single issue "no cents" type "racketeer nickel" is very common even in uncirculated condition and is worth far less than even F+ coins of subsequent years? The coin market can often be a surprising beast.

I don't mind because it's one I'm upgrading. I got one in an F grade in a bulk lot one time, which I basically got paid to take once I'd split up the lot and made a profit on reselling the rest.
So when I get this one I'll sell off my old one to recoup some of my losses. I'll let you know how I get on
