Thanks for the link. I have checked hundreds of possibilities and have got close but not close enough. I was hoping that someone would be brave enough to try and decipher the Greek letters which would whittle down the odds.

I am wondering of the head is that of Apollo

and one of the lines on the reverse reads

???ΚΛΗΣ
Possibly ??ΜΚΛΗΣ
Maybe ?ΠΜΚΛΗΣ

did you try the word search?

I have tried but it does not accept words starting with wild cards and the permutations of the first 3 unknown letters are many. I am not familiar with Greek and therefore cannot make an educated guess at what the word might be

This is a common coin of Kolophon in Ionia. The man on the reverse is Homer.

Thanks for your help. I have found this Hemiobol - Smyrna on numista which is very similar but the name of the town is different

I will put mine on as a Hemiobol - Kolophon but I am not sure of the date

I'm sorry, I confused your coin with a coin of Kolophon with the same reverse which is visible on this website:

Your coin is exactly the same as the coin of the catalogue.
Thanks for letting me know. I will record it under the Smyrna coin although the Greek on the reverse looks different

That's right: the name of the magistrate changes. If you can read it and compare it in ac search (write the name in greek alphabet in the search bar), it would be possible to add a new line on the page.
