I believe that his coin is a Gupta copper Drachma but as yet I cannot date it or track it down

Hi Roy,
I think this coin is cast rather then struck. Is there anyway you can post the picture of the edge?
If it is cast it can't be from Gupta period as those were hammered coins.

From the look of it this coin does look like casted. Most familiar Indian cast coins were minted by the Sunga or Kaushambi empires, but this coin does not look anything similar.
I have no idea beyond this.
