Numista Rarity Index (?)

I've always wondered how this # is calculated.

I recently added my 1st coin to the catalog and it lists the Rarity Index as 97. I'm pretty certain I have the only one on Numista.

Can anyone shed some light on this calculation?

Kind Regards, Peter

It seems to be nobody has it, rarity 100, one member has it, rarity 97, 2 members, rarity 95, I'm not sure about how it goes from there.
I don't know exactly how it does calculate but for sure it seems to be decreasing slower with more and more owners.

Does anyone know of any coins that have a rarity index of 0, which means that everyone has one?

No. The lowest known one seems to be 3.

you know you can go back and edit it right?
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

we could send extras to every member that doesn't have one and see if we can get it to 0, just kidding.

I'm one of the few that doesn't have his coin. Maybe we should start a club for those who don't have this coin. I could be in the 300 club and the 3 club ;)
