I noticed that there was a 300 country club but couldn't find any lesser milestones so I will create one.
If you have 200+ countries in your collection please let us know.
I recently passed 200 (I am at 204) with the help of my last swap, (ybigdan) thanks man. I really feel like I have accomplished something here considering I have only been seriously collecting for one year.
Thank you everyone on Numista and thank you 'giant tub of coins' at Northgate stamp and coin in Edmonton for making this happen.
Can't wait to hit 300!!!
So go ahead and post your name and how many countries you have below. (as long as you are at 200 or more)
So a member of the 300 club is automatically member of this one.
268 and a few unregistered countries

After the 200 I realized the things get more exciting, now I have to dig auctions and swap lists for the missing countries, I spend hours browsing the site, offering lots of coins for a single coin, bidding, looking throughly coin lots and talking to coin dealers. I guess the addiction will get worse when this number increases.
275 countries, and I've been standing still on that number for a while.
My goal is to get a coin from every modern country, which has made me to "forget" about former colonies and such
Crossed over into the 200's last month ( January ).
Now standing at 211, coming up on my 5th year of
collecting in April. Started with my brother's collection
when he passed it on to me.
Always remember, No matter where you go, there you are.
I have been stuck in 250 since many months due to work and travels (not many swaps going on), but if you guys find something in my list that can help you move on and have patience let me know...
Upgrade: 269 since I added an unregistered coin from Persianate states.

I estimated 200-220 countries in my collection based on the 300 country club's list, so I expect to be able to qualify for this club soon - perhaps as soon as I properly enter my existing collection
In any case, coins from exotic countries are one of my collecting interests, so even if I won't have 200 immediately, it wouldn't be hard to get there quickly.
233 countries and territories but working on to reach the 250 till the end of the year.
See on my swap list if there is any new country that you can add to your collection, if so send me a pm.
234 Right now, recently added Republic of China and awaiting coins from Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Comoros Islands, Andorra, Solomon Islands, Bhutan, and Mongolia
I just entered my 200th country.
Iraq, 4 Fils, 1938, KM# 105b
I started less than a year ago, with the intent of limiting my quest to countries.
Then types.
Now up to 1085 types, with only a few duplicates.
I still have some ancients to enter that may bump the countries a bit.
Then I'll start on the US collection. That will have quite a few types and several collections by date and mint.
I no longer do yard work. I live in the country. The deer have been assigned the chore of keeping the grass short.

300 Would be a peak goal for me. I collect only modern coins. (I think 280 countries are available, and around 60 Very Rare country.) Now I am around 220.
If count by circulating coins, I would be entered 240, with West African Franc (XOF), Central African Franc (XAF) and Eastern Caribbean Dollar (XCD) being circulated in 22 countries.

Quote: "Eerovisser"242 countries with some good trades. Going to coin show Sunday, hoping to pick up a few more new countries.
246 right now. But I think I have to stop trading for a little and organize my coins. I decided to switch from albums to 2x2 holders. That is going to take a long time. Always interested to trade if that means new countries.
234 countries, still some islands missing to color the whole map.
300 is a hard goal, it requires a lot of exchanges and people do not swap easily coins from very rare countries.
Last country found: South Arabia
I think I was only 7 or 8 countries short of the 300 club when it closed. Really hoped to join, but didn't make it in time, alas.
Currently at 231 countries and 333 issuers (just entered my newest issuer - Duchy of Saxe-Meiningen).
Quote: "ArsenEverlast"Yesterday I had 199 countries and today after receiving a new bunch of coins its 201!
Added first coins for Marshall Islands & Niue
The "country" concept is a bit old-dated, due to counter-nature gathering groups (for example : the german Lorraine in the France country), the main driver now might be "issuers".
Same shift is ongoing for the Colnect stamps directory which is now showing 552 "countries" ie Numista issuers.
I agree. I'm sitting at 195 countries, but 237 issuers. Don't get me wrong, I'd still love to see that country counter roll over, but I'm happy with the issuer count.
"What we are is not as important as what we aren't"
To me the issuer count and country count are about the same. When the issuers were introduced my country count became my issuer count, more or less. I 280-ish countries, but now I'm down to 227 countries - but I have 285 issuers. I never really understood this.

235 countries and 353 issuers now, after a bunch of coin shop trips in 2019 and early 2020.

237 countries and 362 issuers, hopefully to be expanded later this year.

I just noticed I'm down on 231 countries, and the I've been adding countries since.
I guess there's been a lot of changes in the criteria of what should count as a country.
I currently have 278 countries. I'm working on getting more, but it's already starting to get difficult or expensive. LOL.But I have notes, like Biafra, Kosovo or Hawaii among others. With I pasa 300 countries

Nearly a year later, 392 issuers but only 240 countries. IIRC there's been a few country mergers involved and I actually have more than 3 new countries, and also IIRC a lot of the "new" issuers are newly-separated notgeld (and/or other minor German states).
However, so far 300 is almost impossible to achieve. There is one guy here who is at 295 (and I think he has the highest number), and I am stuck at 288. It is very hard to go after 275-280, and after 290 every step is close to impossible.
I remember there was some statistics of the most hard countries to find. Does it exist now?
There was a link to an excel file that listed 2898 issuers and the number of Numista user owners for each. I have the file but don't remember the post it was in. The file had this summary in it:

Wasn't this just for the ones in the 300 country club? Or was that a different chart?
Wasn't this just for the ones in the 300 country club? Or was that a different chart?
It started in a post for the 300 country club but was then generalized. From the post I referenced Turi wrote this:
In order to answer the question of how difficult is to get a given issuer/country and create a ranking of difficulty of them, a study was prepared by crossing the data of all 129,910 collections registered with Numista, generalizing a study done in November 2019, but now with all site collections.
I always found the chart of countries by number of owners fascinating. Some of the “very hard” countries are actually pretty easy to obtain and not very expensive. Many are non-circulating silver ounces (or similar) like the Caribbean states and perhaps many collectors don't bother with those, but Rwanda-Burundi is a $5 coin and Korea has many inexpensive coins, some of them centuries old and still cheap. Ancient China is in the same boat except you can get a 2000+ year old coin for under $10. By contrast, Roman base metal coins are readily available at a similar date and price, but are only “medium” difficulty and have eight times as many owners.
I suppose despite being easily found online for very reasonable prices, the fact that they're not a common staple of western coin shops and you therefore have to know to look for them makes them less commonly collected.
This chart is pretty impressive. It sure looks like it doesn't matter if the country has actual circulating coinage or just commemoratives though.
(From same thread as linked above)
I have coins from Saint Barthélemy, but for some reason someone decided they belong in the Exonumia section, even though they were legal tender on the island. So to extend the discussion “What is a country and what is an issuer?”, we could also add “What makes a coin a coin, and what makes a coin an exonumia item?”. The exonumia catalogue is much better now though, so I don't mind too much anymore. Just a little. 😜

My goal in Numista is to become the youngest member of the 200 Club since I'm going to be 19 in less than 8 months.
I had this Numista account since I was 15 during my 1st Year of High School, can't believe I'm graduating in 2 months.
I even remember when this website first started to document banknotes in May 2020 when summer vacation just started for that year. I helped provide lots of information for the banknotes during the first few months after banknotes were first supported for this website (it helped me get through the boredom of the pandemic lockdown). In fact I'm the guy who made the photo for the 200 Mexican Peso note from 2018.
Thank you guys in this website for providing me new knowledge of this beautiful hobby during my High School years. I will always use this website forever until the end of times!
I'm at 225 without any idea, how all that came together or apart, since a lot changes all the time, and to follow those are next to impossible.
So I don't, I just read the number from time to time, and wonder if it's really countries or those mysterious “issuers” coming and going.
Anyway, it's not really of any big interest for me! I have what I have, and numista counts like numista counts, so I'm happy and numista as well, I suppose? I love to see my numbers change all the time without knowing why. It's like in Las Vegas with the one armed bandits, it all turns out of your control. But you're the looser, anyway.
275 countries, and I've been standing still on that number for a while.

I have 226 countries and 285 issuers

Well, I guess it's time for a new update. 😆
I've been focusing more on Ancient Greece lately, so there hasn't been many updates in the last year or so. And even though I'm downsizing my collection, I don't “give up” a country.
So, here it goes: 230 countries, 297 issuers. This means that since 2016 I've lost 45 countries, but added a few thousand coins to my collection. I do believe that we didn't have the term issuers back then, and the 300 countries club was thriving. Oh, good ol' days when nothing was complicated. 😌
I will now, once again, quote myself from 2020: “I never really understood this.”

Peace out!
Looking back a bit, I think the focus on issuers rather than countries has been very beneficial in managing the historical character of our collection. There is another stamp collection site that has made the same successful move with now 1492 issuers...
But the game goes on ... I'm still as diligent in collecting new issuers 😉
I am focusing to get at least one coin of most number of issuers of the planet. I am glad Numista is always working to get everything well sorted. There are few issuers changing here or there, but that is part of evolution.
Whatever Numista chooses to call the different issuer entities, I will always manage my collection according to the site (with few exceptions, like Tatarstan, Zaire and New Hebrides).

I'm organized in the KM way. It suits my old fashioned brain better. I still have British Caribbean separated from Caribbean States. The same for Honduras…..
