Hi,
So far I can see a tremendous amount of work having been done and I like what I see.
Of course a lot of work has still to be done.
Decisions must be taken. But they must be taken rationally without any political, cultural or other emotion - things difficult to achieve. But everyone should be able to consider that we are trying to classify coins and are NOT making politics by declaring a coin issuing authority as a country or not.

For countries like Byzantium Empire, Crusader states, Islamic states, etc. I feel a section called Middle Ages would be a good option. Some Indian and German States for instance may also fit there. Countries with a certain territorial continuity like England and France should not appear there but issuing dependencies could.

To decide whether positioning of an issuing authority as country or depending territory you should ask some questions:
*does it still exist with the same name?
->is it an independent country? --> Country
->does it depend from a territory already identified as country? --> put it under that country
-not possible to give a positive answer to the above questions --> Country
*it does no more exist but doesn't fit into Ancient, Middle Ages, etc?
->is it the precursor of one country or dependent territory --> put it under the country
->has it been (re)integrated into a country --> put it under the country
->was it the precursor of several countries --> Country
-in doubt --> Country

Of course the catalogue may need to evolve with political changes. So should, as example, Scotland decide to leave Great Britain, it should become an independant country togeather with it's older issues.

Is there a planned time-frame to make the country lists on the different pages match each other? Will "Catalog - Country List" match "Your Coins - Show countries: from which you have coins - from which you don't have any coins - all"?
I wish the "Your coins" list was hyperlinked like the "Country List".
Thanks
Hi,

can I still search for "Greenland" and find it in the future, or would I have to search "Denmark" first?

If I can't search "Greenland", "Palestine" or whatever directly, then I think the new version is a huge set-back.

Hi Ole,
the topic is pretty old, there is no change from the display used since then (2016). If you search for Greenland, you will find it (under "Denmark" section in the displayed list).
