Perfect, thank you. I wonder when they update it. 2016 US silver quarters are not listed.

Hi,

I'm a contributor to the km catalogs and I know they have a resource shortage, so updates are slow.....

Numista will outgrow Krause in time, and I guess it happened already in many areas. I will try to push for Numista own catalogue numbers.

Hi Jarcek,

only if numista will start to show prices for the grades as well AND that the numista SOFTWARE can be maintained by several persons. The data is already kind of taken care of with the users contributions and the referees as arbitors, but again the referees might get tired of all the time spent on non paid efforts and then again numista will failz)

Now numista's software is run by only ONE, SINGLE person, which is absolutely no guarantee for a long and healthy life of the data base:x Is there any back-up system of the numista server to insure the continuity of the data base?

Hi Ole,

Numista database is updated/saved every day. If the referees fall, there are now three of us who can add new ones.

I am a frequent visitor to Numismaster, checking on KM refs for UK coinage and there doesn't appear to be any numbers more recent than 2013, so they are quite a bit behind the times.
Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.

From what I gather the Numista site will only exist as long as Xavier allows. Will ownership be passed on when he decides that he's had enough. Is there an heir to the throne.
Hi,

as I nearly said, numista is an elephant on clay legs;(

I don't think this site will ever be "passed on;" instead, it will be sold. In case you hadn't noticed, there's advertising on this site which generates revenue.
That advertising barely covers server costs.

Passed on doesn't mean given away free and as far as advertising goes I use an ad blocker so no, I haven't noticed any advertising.

Actually, "passed on" usually means departed, expired, extinct, or kicked the bucket; but not transferred to another party for value.

Today, but what about in the future?
we're back to the elephant, who wants to stand by itself, but the feet are made of clay and it starts to rain...... and it tumbles!

My confidence is 100% on the km side and not in numista, except if km would buy numista, which is extremely unlikely!

Please leave the scwc to give the km#!

Actually, I can "pass on" my coins to someone for a fee or I can pass them on for free.

I bought these pattern coins that were supposedly from Peru from Arkady Nakhimovsky, who features prominently in the KM contributor listing at the start of the KM catalogs:

The KM numbers for these coins may be found at http://numismaster.com/ta/numis.jsp (click "find my coin" and select "unusual coins").

NGC would not grade these coins because they were "genuine fakes:"
QuoteIn the 1990's a firm in London named the International Currency Bureau, Ltd, commonly known as ICB , attempted to win contracts to issue coins for various third world nations. They would design and strike a limited number of pattern coins for each country in hopes of winning a contract. Though many of their issues were attractive, they were unable to win any major contracts. After a few years they went bankrupt and were liquidated.
Nakhimovsky bought these coins at auction. The only reason these coins were "released" was because ICB went bankrupt. Otherwise, they would have stayed hidden in the ICB vaults.

I would not want to be caught in Peru with them, especially the one coin having the Peruvian Coat of Arms!

Fortunately, I was able to return the coins.

You really have to go out of your way to find them because KM does not include the coins in their Unusual World Coins published products, choosing only to list them online.

They are still for sale on Ebay.

We already have them. Every coin on Numista has a URL like numista.com/catalogue/pieces39139.html... the "pieces number" is unique to each Numista entry. I think they are consistent between English and French sides.

Guess which coin is numista.com/catalogue/pieces1.html

Numista #1: ah nice. I never had the idea to look at that. I used to keep those as a kid to buy sweets worth 1 centime at the bakery :D

The only problem hete is that it will be really messy. In the beginning it's alright since it at least is the country, but the types are all mixed.
Eg. Numista Piece Number (NPN) 1 is KM# 928, but KM# 927 is NPN 689. These two should be together.

Not to speak about countries. Just imagine we have a Numista World Coin and Token Catalogue and we're browsing it page by by page and come to NPN 26790-26800. It won't look good it a catalogue, would it?

I have been a contributor to the Krause catalogs, and you will find my name in the 6th edition of the Unusual World Coins. You will find the ICB Series listed/numbered/valued on pages 509-517.
