Quote: "CassTaylor"@Monnien1 I might be personally biased towards the French 100 Franc coins
Even if you're considering the bigger Napoleon III or Génie types issued prior to 1914, consider the smaller 100 Francs issued 1929-36, it has a great design.
@jokinen [Beautiful] Epoch (or Era) is the correct equivalent for '[Belle] Époque' but it looks weird half-translated
I usually only collect coins from 1800-1917. These coins somehow seem attractive for example I would not buy a coin minted in 1918 or 1799. I guess this is because my own country got independence in 1917. But I am going for either the 100 francs or the 100 corona. (I am not so sure about the corona if it is minted after 1917, I probably wont buy it)
So I guess I will then once get the 100 francs. If everything works out and it is under 1200 (or 1300) It does not really matter. Its also a damn beautiful coin!
The Finnish patterns cost too much probably. There is a few:
2 penniä 1866 costs at least 2000€ in the worst possible condition. Its very rare and wanted. Often sold for over 6000€...If someone sells it!
1863 set coin I would not even think about these. Probably last time any of these was sold was over ten years ago...
20 penniä 1866 was sold for 21 thousand €. Nope.
I guess there is no cheaper patterns in Finland (if not counting the 1500€ 1918 5 penniä iron)
I could always also go for a Finnish old rouble banknote, a Russian smaller gold coin, many smaller gold coins, platinum 3 rouble, japanese gold, prussian gold...other gold, but I guess I am going to get that one? I say the 1850s one.
